Is it just me, or does fanfiction seem to be . . . so much more shallow than fiction? I mean, regarding the overall mass of fanfiction, I seem to have lower standards and expectations when I start reading a fanfiction. Is it because I've just become used to the lower standard? Or am I relying on the characters I've grown to love (hence the reason I sought them out in fanfiction) to carry the story and retain my interest? Maybe that was how it was before, and I could get through a whole crappy fanfiction and still have enjoyed it because I so dearly wished to read the characters I adore, but lately I'll read a chapter--or read up to the predictable resolution--and feel not an ounce of guilt when I toss the story. There are actually some very good fanfictions out there that I've absolutely enjoyed and love, but those fanfictions excluded, I've almost completely stopped reading fanfiction. Fiction has taken over most of my interest, and as I was reading a great fiction story today, I just realized how much better it was than some of the crap I'd been reading. In the section of Bleach fanfiction that I'll dub Hana-fics, it's about the same: I come across enjoyable Hana-fanfictions none too frequently. But that doesn't bother me so much because there is a nice amount of the good stuff out there, and I write enough Hana-fanfiction to keep myself sated. What do you guys think of the shallow quality of fanfiction and the low standard we seem to have set for them?

I think that the level of writing has just gone down, and when people have ideas for stories, the result of it is just a pile of nothing. It's not that people write bad, they just don't know how to write good; they probably haven't studied English too seriously and don't really know how to stat or where to end. Another thing: You write what you Read. If there was a programme that every school did in the entire country that focused on good literature, then I bet the people out there would get a grasp on how to make yourself a better writer. The problem is this: most of the time people just glance through the text and don't really interpret the morals or possible dual meanings that lay in between the lines. THEY DON"T THINK. And if you don't THINK, you can't WRITE. There are a bunch of other things I'd like to say, but I'm too lazy to write it all down at once (^3^)

I am a new memeber to the Hnatarou website. I have a fanfic account. I wrote a story for Hanatarou, its an OC and it's not yaoi. It's romance between Hanatarou, and a new fourth squad member, Chiyuki. Um, it's just a suggestion if you don;' want to read it, you don't have too, I m not expecting many people to read it anyways. Um it's called 'You're The Mdeicine I need' um. Thank you.
